What is happening between HYBE & ADOR?

A few days ago, HYBE initiated an audit into ADOR, including Min Heejin (CEO of ADOR) and her top executives. They requested Min Heejin to step down from her role as CEO.

On April 3, the executives of ADOR sent complaints by email about the choreography and concept of the new girl group of Belift Ent, ILLIT. The vice president of ADOR then asked the CEOs of HYBE and Belift to address the conflict. Min Heejin then joined the conflict by sending an email to HYBE America, alleging that HYBE was trying to cause conflicts of interest between subsidiaries.

ADOR was founded in 2021 as a subsidiary of HYBE. Through stocks, Min Heejin owns 18% of it, while HYBE owns 80%. Min Heejin has been accused of trying to separate ADOR from HYBE and leaking information to outsiders.

The case also revealed that personal details about trainees, such as their pictures and health information, were leaked.

In response to the accusation, Min Heejin explained that she has never been in contact with outsiders and didn’t engage in the actions she’s been accused of by HYBE.

HYBE’s CEO, Park Jiwoon, immediately responded, stating that all the plans were set long before ILLIT debuted.

On Thursday, HYBE expressed in a press release their intention to take the case to the police for breach of trust, claiming they found specific evidence.

Following this press release, Min Heejin held a press conference of her own in Seoul. In the conference the CEO of ADOR showcased conversations with Bang Si-hyuk (chairman of Hybe) in which he told Min Heejin that she became the “successful fan” (saying she loves her group like a fan does). Bang Si-hyuk then said that he wasn’t confident in making a girl group, so Min Heejin took on making the group.

Min Heejin expressed that after Covid-19 emerged, Bang Si-hyuk and she started to have different opinions, as Min Heejin had a clear vision of what she wanted, which he didn’t share.

"I thought that making ADOR would be for the good of the girls and the shareholders. But Bang Si-hyuk said that he wouldn't let me do it unless the company held a 100 percent stake. But it was my branding and my creation.”

Amid this ongoing chaos, HYBE reassured people that NewJeans’s comeback would not be affected by this affair.
