SM announces the departure of Taeil from NCT after he was accused of a sexual crime

On Wednesday 28, SM Entertainement released a statement concerning Moon Taeil revealing that he will leave NCT after being charged for sexual crimes.

“This is SM Entertainement,

We recently confirmed that Taeil has been accused of a criminal case related to sex crimes. In this regard, we recognized the seriousness of the issue, and we have decided that Taeil can no longer continue team activities. We have discussed this matter with Taeil, and it has been decided that he will leave the group”

The Bangbae Police Station in Seoul revealed that they had filed a case against Taeil after receiving a report of sexual assault against him back in June. This led to disappointment among fans as Taeil continued to actively promote with NCT during this period.

Following the controversy and disappointment of fans, SM explained : "Our company and Taeil first learned of the lawsuit in the middle of August. Taeil was questioned by the police on the 28th."

The investigation is still ongoing, and more information about the case will be disclosed at the appropriate time. For now, the police have only addressed the rumors circulating on social media by confirming that the alleged victim was not a minor.

In the meantime, Jaehyun's (NCT) signing event has been canceled.
