Bang Yedam demonstrates his musical growth in his debut solo album "Only One"

On November 23, Bang Yedam, formerly a member of Treasure, unveiled his debut solo album titled 'Only One.' He departed from Treasure in November 2022 to pursue his journey as a composer, producer, and songwriter, driven by a desire to express more of his creative capabilities.

This album represents a significant pivot in his career as he actively engaged in its production. Bang Yedam not only wrote the lyrics but also composed and arranged all six songs featured on 'Only One,' with the title track being '하나만 해' (translated as 'Only One'). In an interview, he shared that the album drew inspiration from his everyday conversations and experiences. He elaborated further, mentioning that the title track carries a personal message—a mantra he often tells himself.

During the interview, Bang Yedam reflected on his time with Treasure, acknowledging the valuable experiences he gained that will undoubtedly assist him in his journey. However, he delved deeper, articulating a distinction between being an idol and other types of artists.

“I think an artist is more honest — sometimes, they have to be honest. They can be crude sometimes, and their attitude can seem strange, but an idol is always well disciplined. They’re used to portraying a side of themselves that the people want to see and must always stay close to their fans. I believe that I have a side of both within me, but I have the urge to candidly show myself.”

The singer ended the interview by talking about his goals to be the youngest K-pop artist to top both Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200.

“I think the past 10 years passed by quickly, but I’m taking slow steps toward my goal because they’re very grand in a way.”
